JAKARTA – Hundreds of Youth Red Cross (PMR) members—from intermediate to senior levels—filled the Multi-Purpose Hall of the Central Jakarta Mayor’s Office to participate in a digital literacy training themed “Social Media Awareness”, on Sunday (9/11/2025). The training, organized by MNC Peduli together with MNC University and PMI Central Jakarta, was designed to enhance teenagers’ ability to use social media wisely amid the overwhelming flood of online information.

From early morning, participants showed high enthusiasm, attentively joining every session delivered by speakers from MNC University. The materials included social media ethics, identifying and verifying information, understanding digital footprints, and basic techniques for producing photo and video content. Explanations on how to craft positive messages through captions and storytelling also drew strong interest from the participants.

The activity was highly interactive. Participants actively asked questions, discussed real cases they encountered on social media, and joined ice-breaking sessions that made the training atmosphere more engaging. During the workshop session, participants were divided into groups to create digital campaign content themed “Aksi Remaja Peduli”. They eagerly brainstormed ideas, took photos, and crafted messages they planned to share on social media.

The Head of PMI Central Jakarta, Asep Djuanda Sunarya, emphasized that digital literacy is an urgent need for teenagers. “We want PMR members to be able to distinguish which information is accurate and which needs further verification. Social media must be used responsibly,” he said.

The Rector of MNC University, Dendi Pratama, highlighted that social media has become the primary space for young people’s activities. Therefore, understanding the impact of their posts is essential. “Technical skills are important, but awareness of the consequences of each piece of content is even more crucial,” he noted.

From MNC Peduli, representative Ivan Kahubung affirmed that the digital literacy program reflects MNC Peduli’s commitment to supporting the development of young people who are critical and ethical in digital spaces. “We want teenagers to use social media to spread positive messages and humanitarian values,” he said.

Several participants shared that the event offered new insights into how to communicate effectively online. Putri Haidra, one of the PMR members, said the training helped her understand how to create meaningful content. Meanwhile, Evanthya Nazifa noted that the activity reminded teenagers to be more mindful of the words they use on social media.

The event concluded with presentations of the digital campaign content created by the participants. This collaboration between MNC Peduli, MNC University, and PMI Central Jakarta is expected to produce young people who are more prepared to face the challenges of the digital world and capable of becoming agents of positive change through social media.
