MEDAN – MNC Peduli through Yayasan Jalinan Kasih organizes again a free cataract and pterygium surgery for unprosperous people in Medan City, North Sumatera. Free operation is done in collaboration with Accuplast Hospital.

Registered participants of this cataract surgery come from several districts in Medan such as Medan Johor, Medan Baru, Medan, and Medan Area. Some of them also come from several districts outside Medan, such as Tapanuli Tengah, Deli Serdang, Lima Puluh and Tambusan. This social activity is a form of MNC Peduli’s concern in health or medicine for the poor people and as an action to continue some similar activities that have been done before.

“This social activity is intended for the unprosperous community who haven’t or don’t have health insurance from any party. Our hope is the surgery run well and smoothly for the patients so that after the surgery the patients can do daily activities better,” said Chairman 1 MNC Peduli Syafril Nasution in his speech representing Chairman of MNC Group Hary Tanoesoedibjo, Thursday (10/05/2018 ).

“After two social activities in North Sumatra, in the near future will also be done cleft lip surgery in Gombong, Central Java and Purwakarta, West Java,” added Syafril.

Meanwhile dr. Retno Sari Dewi as Director of Accuplast Hospital appreciates this social event which is considered very beneficial for the underprivileged people, especially in Medan City.

“This activity begins with an eye screening in advance to determine the health condition of the patients. For those who want to register, please bring along their relatives, family, neighbours who have cataract eye, next the surgery will be scheduled up to the end of May 2018,” he said.

As of April 2018, approximately 700,000 regular and non-regular patients have been assisted by MNC Peduli. Both in the form of surgical assistance and the provision of health aids such as prosthetic limbs, hearing aids, learning glasses, and other health aids.
