20 December 2025 .

MNC Peduli has distributed humanitarian aid to victims of flash floods and landslides in Nagari Salareh Aia Timur, Agam Regency, West Sumatra. The area was among the hardest hit, with 105 fatalities reported and 75 people still missing. A total of 8.5 tons of aid was delivered to help meet the basic needs of displaced residents, particularly vulnerable groups.

AGAM — MNC Peduli once again demonstrated its concern for communities affected by flash floods and landslides in Agam Regency, West Sumatra. One of the locations visited was an evacuation shelter in Nagari Salareh Aia Timur, an area that suffered severe damage from the disaster.

Deputy Chairman of MNC Peduli, Syafril Nasution, said the organization visited the area as it was one of the locations most heavily impacted by extreme weather conditions and flash floods that occurred some time ago.

Based on a report from the Head of Nagari Salareh Aia Timur, Fauzi, the population of the area previously reached around 5,000 residents. However, the flash floods resulted in significant casualties, with many residents still unaccounted for.

“As a result of this disaster, 75 people remain missing, while 105 people have been confirmed dead. This is deeply saddening,” Syafril said when met at the evacuation shelter visited by MNC Peduli on Friday (December 19th, 2025).

Syafril explained that MNC Peduli’s presence aimed to deliver assistance to help fulfill residents’ basic needs during the post-disaster recovery period. The aid is expected to ease the burden on evacuees, especially vulnerable groups such as infants and the elderly who require adequate nutrition and protection amid unstable weather conditions.

“Hopefully, this assistance will be beneficial for the communities still living in evacuation shelters,” Syafril said.

During the activity, MNC Peduli distributed humanitarian aid collected from the Indonesian public, totaling 8.5 tons. The aid consisted of basic food supplies, mineral water, milk, canned sardines, biscuits, blankets, and various other essential items.

In addition to distributing aid, MNC Peduli also encouraged the public and various stakeholders to continue working together in showing solidarity with disaster-affected communities. The recovery process is expected to take time and requires collective support, as conditions on the ground have yet to fully recover. Care and togetherness are hoped to be key factors in helping victims rebuild their lives.
