12 November 2024

PT MNC Teknologi Nusantara (“MotionPay”) and PT Jalin Pembayaran Nusantara (“Jalin”) are pleased to announce that MotionPay customers will soon be able to enjoy the convenience of cross-border QR payment features in Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia, supported by Jalin’s Link switching infrastructure network. This announcement follows the signing of a cooperation charter between MotionPay and Jalin at the Singapore FinTech Festival (SFF) 2024, marking a strategic step in supporting Indonesia’s Payment System Blueprint (Blueprint Sistem Pembayaran Indonesia/BSPI) 2030 by accelerating national payment digitalization and opening broader transaction opportunities for Indonesians abroad.

This cross-border QR initiative forms part of efforts to support the BSPI 2030 vision, which focuses on five key pillars: modernization of payment infrastructure, industry consolidation, innovation and digital acceleration, expansion of international cooperation, and the development of a digital rupiah. Through the expansion of cross-border payment connectivity, Indonesia can extend the global reach of QRIS cooperation while strengthening the interconnection of retail and wholesale payment systems, all while safeguarding national interests. This cross-border QR payment solution allows Indonesian users traveling overseas to enjoy seamless payment transactions as conveniently as if they were shopping at home.

Yudi Hamka, President Director of PT MNC Kapital Indonesia Tbk (BCAP), the holding company of MotionPay, stated: “The launch of this cross-border QR feature provides significant transaction convenience for MotionPay users traveling to Singapore, with full support from Jalin’s Link network. This step represents our contribution to supporting digital transformation in line with the government’s BSPI 2030 vision, strengthening a connected and competitive national payment ecosystem in the global market.”

As one of Indonesia’s rapidly growing electronic money applications, MotionPay currently serves millions of users from various segments, ranging from millennials to professional business users. In addition to cross-border QR payments, the MotionPay application offers a wide range of features, including MotionCash for cashless transactions, MotionTransfer for interbank fund transfers, nationwide QRIS payments, bill payments, and digital product purchases.

Ario Tejo Bayu Aji, President Director of Jalin, added that this initiative is part of Jalin’s role in supporting BSPI 2030, which focuses on infrastructure development and empowering national payment system players to achieve best practices aligned with international standards, while enabling bilateral and multilateral cross-border payment interconnectivity.

“This collaboration is our step toward opening broader transaction opportunities for Jalin members. The cross-border QR feature allows each member to experience increased international transaction volumes in a practical and secure manner. This solution reflects Jalin’s commitment to delivering added value to every member, driving cross-border transaction growth, and realizing the vision of The National Digital Highway,” Ario said.

Going forward, both MotionPay and Jalin are committed to continuously delivering innovative solutions that not only facilitate cross-border transactions but also expand access to digital payments and strengthen Indonesia’s financial ecosystem. This collaborative effort is part of the long-term vision of both companies to support BSPI 2030 and promote more inclusive, efficient, and internationally standardized payment connectivity.
